The New Order of the Crown of Charlemagne Certificate
Designed by Thomas Curtis
12" x 15"
The Certificate is scribed by hand in the script of the time of Charlemagne
"Karl's scribes wisely discarded the palsied chicken-scratch of earlier generations and replaced it with a clean, elegant handwriting. The clarity of this script, known as Carolingian miniscule, so impressed the first European printers 700 years later that they assumed it must be the work of the Romans and made it the basis for the lowercase "Roman" fonts used in printed books today." Available in "Antique Beige"
